We recently moved to Las Vegas and I am trying to find small, local mom & pop places to eat out here. I say it all the time, I love supporting our locals. My husband & I came across Frankie's Uptown. Back in May we decided to go give it a try. Of course it was during Covid and Nevada has many restrictions, but Frankie's won me over immediately. My husband and I go there every other week to enjoy their appetizers, drinks, dinner and dessert is a must have! Their fun environment has some TV screens with the games playing, music playing and just a wonderful and warming environment.
What makes Frankie's different? The owner himself comes to the tables asking how we are, how's dinner, he talks about business, the menu.. You feel the connection instantly. You know the face behind the restaurant. For my husbands birthday, the waiter brought out a butter cake. Talking with the waiter, he told me Frankie's wife makes all the desserts. They aren't brought in, they aren't frozen, but they are handmade. From the minute you walk in, the staff greets you. They are always asking if you need anything, refilling drinks and having various conversations. I always leave there feeling like I made new friends(and if you know me, I have to talk to everyone)
Lets talk food! Every time we go, we get these bacon wrapped jalapenos. I could sit and eat these all day! Their drinks are always amazing. I always get the Frankie needs a Vacation. Its a sweeter but refreshing drink. My husband always gets the FU old fashioned smoked. Its hard to resist another. LOL
The dinners... Well I think I have had everything on the menu. From burgers to sandwiches, salads to pastas, and pizzas to seafood. My favorites are a toss up between the truffle mac N cheese- Not too garlicky but full of flavor and the fish and chips. Add some malted vinegar and tartar sauce- YUMMO! My husband has enjoyed the burgers, chicken parm and the deuce dogs! I have also enjoyed them! I keep telling them they need to offer sample platters as I just want it all!
You must leave room for dessert- I have had everything on the menu, but my two favorites are the butter cake and the peanut butter parfait. You definitely leave full and satisfied. Whether you are visiting the Vegas/Summerlin area or your live in town, this is a must have! Its up tp us to keep these small businesses going! I do always call and make a reservation because I want to ensure I get my spot but with certain covid restrictions, sometimes they can only accommodate a certain percentage.
